Laurie's Charity Contributions
2010
Susie and Laurie donated their time and talents to the MDA Tel-A-Thon.
June-December, 2009
The Laurie Berkner Band teamed up with The Pajama
Program by holding Pajama Party Concerts, beginning with their Town Hall concert in June, 2009.
Laurie will be visiting one of the local centers to
read or sing with the kids. Also, our wonderful fans have
donated many new pajamas and books to kids in need. The Pajama Program took a picture of some of your
donations. Thank you!
Pajama Shows have taken place at the following venues:
Town Hall in New York City, NY - Hundreds of PJ's and Books
The State Theater
in New Brunswick, NJ - 292 PJ's, 209 Books
The Tilles Center in Long Island, NY - Hundreds of PJ's and Books
The State Theater in Ithaca, NY - 33 PJ's, 5 Books
Merrill Auditorium in Portland, ME - 89 PJ's, 63 Books
The Pajama
Program, a 501 (c)3 not-for-profit
organization, provides new, warm pajamas and new
books to children in need in the United States, and
around the world, many who are waiting and hoping to
be adopted. These are youngsters who may not know
the comforts of a mother or father to tuck them into
a cozy bed and read them a bedtime story too many
have been abandoned, most deprived of any love at all.

Laurie visited the kids at PS 32 in the Bronx.

On November 5, 2007 Laurie donated a portion of the
proceeds from her Carnegie Hall show to Creative
Alternatives of New York in support of their work
with children who fall on the autistic spectrum.
The donation went specifically to the Andrus
Children's Center for children in the "fragile unit"
of the Orchard School. The children are considered
fragile due to their psychiatric diagnoses, placing
each of them somewhere on the autistic spectrum, most
commonly, Asperger's Syndrome. The children typically
struggle with everyday social interactions and are
challenged to read the feelings of others or
appropriately manage their own emotional range and
responses. CANY groups strive to create a safe space
in which to share emotions and experiences, developing
a respectful but playful community. For more

A big thank you to The Green Apple Music Festival for inviting us to play this year as part
of their National Earth Day Celebration. They did a great job handling the unexpected number
of people who came to be part of the event (the police department reported that we were
15,000 strong that day!) and we all had a lot of fun. I also personally enjoyed being able
to give back to my community by performing a free concert only a few blocks from my home. It
was a great example for me of thinking globally and acting locally.
And thanks to all of you who came and shared your amazing energy with us on that beautiful
day! May we all continue to do the best we can to take care of where we and our children
live, breathe and love.

Laurie has started selling her CDs in Target stores. Target
requires that her CDs are packaged in a hard plastic. Knowing that
this adds to the waste produced in the US she wanted to be able to
do something to help the environment. So she's decided to donate a
percentage of the proceeds to an earth friendly organization called
. Please learn more about
